What is the Concept of 5 Pillars in Islam

The Strong Basis of Islam is five pillars that form the basis of Islamic education, as taught by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Five pillars of Islam are five duties that every Muslim should satisfy to live a great and responsible life.

Islam is built upon the Five Pillars of Islam which are as follows:

1. The Declaration of Faith (Shahadah)
2. Salah (Establishing regular Prayers)
3. Zakat (Paying charity)
4. Sawm (Fasting in the month of Ramadan)
5. Hajj

We will now discuss in detail these five pillars of Islam, their importance, benefits, and how they affect the lives of Muslims.

Shahada:

The first pillar of Islam is a confession of faith. There is no god but Allah and Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is His last Prophet.

Under this pillar, all other responsibilities are included because relying on Allah and Muhammad (PBUH) as their Prophet is to follow their teachings and example of Muhammad's life.

We can also say that reciting the Muslim faith is Shahadah. It should be expressed verbally, with sincere and firm conviction. The first pillar has two parts. The first part of the declaration indicates that no person and no object have the right to worship except Allah. Allah alone has the power over everything because He is the only Creator of all universes. Allah has no partner.

The second part of the declaration is that Muhammad (SAW) is the last messenger of Allah. He is the last and the last Prophet who only teach people to obey and worship of Allah. A true Muslim will be when he/she speaks of Shahadah and accepts it wholeheartedly.

Salah:

The second pillar is the Salah. Muslims are expected to attend prayer five times a day, facing Mecca. Prayer exemplifies Muslim life. Muslims hope to please Allah by continually praying and mentioning Allah. He is practising properly five times daily.

Benefits of Salah:

Prayer establishes a spiritual connection between the Muslim and its Lord based on faith.

  • Through Salah, the Muslims remember the greatness of their Creator and pray for their needs and desires.
  •
  • Humility in the presence of Allah prevents a person from falling into sin. Therefore, Salah is a type of purification of the human's soul.
  •
  • to offering Salah, Muslims can be closeness to Allah.
  •
  • Times pray in a day is compulsory for every Muslims who have reached the puberty age.
  • Muslims can get upto 10,000 rewards only after offering the one Salah in al-Haram mosque.

  • Muslims try to offer more and more prayers in the area of Holy Mosque to earn the uncounted rewards during their Umrah. Umrah is a spiritual journey to Makkah where a Muslim performs 4 rituals for complete Umrah journey.

Zakat:

Zakat is a process to help the poor and needy people, and it is only performed for the sake of Allah. The word of Zakat means both "purification" and "growth". Giving the method of Zakat is only applicable to capable persons who can give at least 2.5% from their annual income, gold, and silver prices to poor, needy people or organizations.

The purpose of giving Zakat is to build a rich society from financially support.

Benefits of Paying Zakat:

Cleaning the heart from greed, selfishness, and arrogance.

Reminding of the blessings of Allah and encourages Muslims to give thanks to Allah Almighty.
Reducing poverty from society and balance the differences between different classes.

Sawm:

Sawm means fasting during the month of Ramadan. During the time of fasting, It is obligatory for each Muslim to avoid things like drinking, to eat, smoking, sex activity (between married couples), and sinful acts. Fasting period teaches a Muslim to gain devotedness and keep him out of immoral activities.

As with any worship, fasting requires obeying. Fasting of Ramadan is obliged on such Muslims who are physically and mentally mature.

Sick persons, Breastfeeding women, menstruating women and travellers can perform it later that when they can complete it.

Benefits of Fasting:

  • Promotes self-purification and spiritual growth

Hajj:

The fifth pillar is the pilgrimage. All Muslims are expected to visit Makkah at least once in their lifetime if they can perform it financially and physically. During the Hajj, Muslims dressed in white robes.

Ethnic, gender and economic differences have been eliminated as Muslims of many nations come together to worship God. Travelling is a temporary suspension of all worldly activities, and the time has come for people to reflect worship, and seek forgiveness and closeness to God.

This great process of worship consists of several steps, including animal sacrifice, praying, going to different places and praying, revolving around the Kaaba, and many other rituals. All is done only during five consecutive days.

Hajj is an excellent example of brotherhood that does not get in any other religions.

Can Umrah Performance Equal To Hajj

Performing Umrah in Ramadan conveys huge worth and strict importance. Umrah is viewed as a lesser type of Hajj, and whoever performs Umrah with unadulterated expectation wins the most noteworthy delight of Allah (SWT).

It is an improving encounter that individuals everywhere throughout the world take an interest in fasting and performing Umrah for their Lord. Muslims can easily understand the significance of Umrah in Ramadan by this Hadith:

Al-Bukhaari (1782) and Muslim (1256) narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas said:

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to a woman from among the Ansaar – Ibn ‘Abbaas mentioned her name but I forgot it – “What kept you from performing Hajj with us?” She said: We only have two camels and the father of her son and her son had gone for Hajj on one camel and he left us the other camel so that we could carry water on it. He said: “When Ramadan comes, go for ‘Umrah, for ‘Umrah in (that month) is equivalent to Hajj.”

Because of the extraordinary prominence of Performance of Umrah in Ramadan, Muslims across the world want to perform Umrah in the Ramadan, and they want to spend their most time staying in Makkah and Madinah by praying and supplicating.

Therefore, Ramadan is to be considered very peak season to perform Umrah. Many Muslims miss this golden chance due to expenses because every human is no rich. Our society consists of mainly three categories of living style in which one is low, second is middle, and thir or last is rich.

There is a source with which the low and middle-class people can efficiently perform this sunnah in Ramadan that is Cheap Ramadan Umrah Packages. Individuals can attain it from any travel agency which is providing Hajj and Umrah Packages.

 What is Umrah?

In Arabic, the word 'Umrah is derived from I'timar, which implies a visit. But, in Islamic traditions   Umrah, means paying a visit to Kabba, performing Tawaf around it, walking between Safa and   Marwah seven times. The Umrah Performer puts off his Ihram by having his hair shaved or cut.  'Umrah can be done along with Hajj and in other days as well, but it is not done during the Hajj days.

Performing Umrah in Ramadan does not fulfil the duty of performing Hajj because always keep in mind that Hajj is a Fard worship while Umrah is a Sunnah worship.

Offering Umrah during Ramadan has a critical chance for the individuals who can't perform Hajj due to any reason because they can get a reward equal to Hajj — just performing Umrah in Ramadan.

Hajj for Allah has the importance of its own.

But the performing method of both pilgrimages is different because Umrah consists of only 4 rituals.

Umrah Rituals:

  •    Ihram
  •    Tawaf
  •    Sa’i
  •   Halq/Taqsir

Muslims from several regions communicating in various languages with various culture and customs sit together to breakfast as the guest of the creator (Allah) of us. This act shows great altruism. We should refer to this fasting place as a place where you can see humanity, brotherhood, peace and harmony all at the same time.

The experience of breaking fast with millions of people who you did not even know must be known by the ones who had the honour to be on this holy trip (Umrah in Ramadan) before.

Maybe it is glad news for such Muslims who are living and working in the UK, that now they can get Cheap Umrah Packages for Ramadan in their cities.

Hajj Method Step By Step And Its Types

What is Hajj?

Saudia Arabia hosts nearly 2 million Muslims from around the world during the five days pilgrimage. Every non-disabled Muslim who can afford it is obliged to undertake Hajj once in their lifetime. The word Hajj is Arabic, meaning 'to intend a journey'. Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam.

How did Hajj Start?

The rites performed at Hajj today were established by the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.), but, based on the Quran, they can be traced back to the Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.).

Muslims believe that Ibrahim (A.S.) was ordered by Allah to leave his wife Hajar and his son Ismail alone in the desert (Mecca). There was a time came when the drinking source finished, and it was a tough time for Hajra (R.A.) because a little child was starting to cry for water.

Therefore, Hajar (RA.) desperately ran seven times between the two hills of Safa and Marwah in search of water but found none. After returning in despair to Ismail, she saw the baby scratching the ground with his leg, and a water fountain sprang forth at the site.

After that, it was called with the name of Zamzam water well, which today in Masjid Al Haram. Pilgrims visit the Zamzam well while performing Hajj or the Umrah pilgrimage to drink its water.

How long does Hajj take?

Hajj usually takes around three to five days.

Hajj Method Step by Step:

First day of Hajj: 8th Dhu al-Hijjah

On the 8th day, Pilgrims start the Hajj rituals along with wearing the Ihrams and performing the Tawaf and Sa'i. After offering the Morning Prayer, pilgrims move to Mina, and there are pass the whole day and night in tents by performing compulsory and non-compulsory (sunnah & nafl) prayers.

Second day: 9th Dhu al-Hijjah

On the 9th day, they all go to Arafat or Arafah. Arafat is a plain land in the east of Makkah, where they listen to the sermon from Islamic scholars. Pilgrims offer noon and afternoon prayers together at this time (noon time).

Same on this day, pilgrims go to Muzdalifah after sunset. Pilgrims offer Maghrib and Isha prayers jointly on the Muzdalifah area, which is situated between Mina and Arafah. They spend the whole night in the open air. It is the right place to collect the stone for the Rami ritual.

Third day: 10th Dhu al-Hijjah

On the 3rd day, Pilgrims return to Mina. In the Mina, they perform the symbolic stoning of the devil. There are three places, but on this day, the stoning act is only for Jamrat al-Aqabah.

After stoning, pilgrims perform the animal sacrifice ritual and those Muslims who are not performing Hajj that they celebrate Eid ul-Adha event.

After scarification, pilgrims perform another important ritual of this day that is shaving head or trimming hair. Shaving head act is preferable for men, and cutting hair act is selected for women. After performing all rituals of the day, pilgrims go back to al-Haram mosque, and they perform Tawaf al-Ifadah.

They return to Mina for spending the night.

Fourth day: 11th Dhu al-Hijjah

On the 11th day, Pilgrims perform the Rami ritual, but this time they perform this ritual on all three pillars.

Fifth day: 12th Dhu al-Hijjah

On the 5th day, they repeat the Rami ritual, they leave the Mina for Makkah before sunset on the 12th, but if they don't leave Mina at any reason before sunset, then pilgrims can leave the Mina on next day, but they must perform the Rami ritual again on 6th day.

Types of Hajj

There are three different types of Hajj namely:
  1. Hajj-ul-Ifrad
  2. Hajj-ul-Qiran
  3. Hajj-ul-Tamattu

Hajj-ul-Ifrad

It is the form of Hajj. A pilgrim enters into the state of Ihram intending to perform Hajj only before passing through the Meeqat (place for assuming Ihram). The pilgrim does not combine Hajj with Umrah and makes sure not to perform Umrah in the month of Hajj. The person who performs Hajj-ul-Ifrad is called Mufrid.

Hajj-ul-Qiran

During this kind of Hajj, a pilgrim who performs Hajj-ul-Qiran combines Hajj and Umrah. He assumes Ihram intending to accomplish both. The pilgrim who performs this kind of Hajj is called a Qarin.

Qarin wears Ihram first for Umrah and then for Hajj making his intentions for Hajj just before performing Tawaf for Hajj. The obligations on one performing Hajj-ul-Qiran are the same as the one performing Ifrad, except that the former must slaughter, whereas the latter is not obligated to do so.

Hajj-ul-Tamattu

In this type of Hajj, a pilgrim assumes Ihram for only Umrah during the month of Hajj. After reaching Makkah, he/she performs Tawaf and Saa'ee for Umrah. He/she then performs Qasr, i.e., shaves or clips his hair. On the day of eighth of Dhul-Hijjah, he/she puts on his/her Ihram for Hajj and performs the duties of Hajj. The person who performs this kind of Hajj is called a Mutamatti.

All the forms of Hajj are rewarded, but the most recommended form of Hajj by Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) is Hajj-ul-Tamattu, and he (P.B.U.H.) encouraged his followers to perform it.

There is no doubt to perform Hajj is a better way to get rid of all sins which are committed by human beings. This worship is not only related to body efforts; instead, it also related to the soul. If anyone performs it with sincere intentions, then it is essential for him/her that Allah essentially gives him a great reward in this world and the last Day of Judgment.

Labbaik Hajj Umrah is the most famous travel agency which is providing Cheap Hajj Packages next year as it had been done in the previous Hajj season.

What To Pack For I’tikaf at Masjid Al-Nabawi?

The Fundamentals! Actually, the fundamentals you need to consider about for Umrah in Ramadan. We have seen people stay the whole ten days with only a sheet and a cap. We mean it if you believe that you can bring on your atmosphere bed and ten pairs of panties think again.

When I had to select only five things they'd be:

  • Underwear/shirts
  • Pillow
  • Thobe
  • Multipurpose liquid soap
  • Required medicines

Multipurpose liquid soap can simplify your own life. This one is amazing:

It is possible to use it as soap and shampoo.

TIP: As you'll be doing Umrah, you'll almost certainly have an ihram. If you wind up maintaining it, then this is sometimes utilized as a secondary sheet or maybe a towel!

Clothes

Concerning clothes, I packaged very light, and you'll have to pack light since they do not permit a lot of things within the Masjid. Unsure how many times I want to state that... that is barebones men and women!

Think about it as though you're climbing Mount Everest and you have just got a backpack. What could you bring? Evidently, you'd attract the essentials and also to tell you the fact you do not need much. So always pack right and light.

Medication

Purchase your medicine while at Medina. The pharmacists are incredibly great; they're like physicians. If that's the scenario, all you will need is Surah al-Fatihah.

Precaution at Entrance

When entering the Masjid for the very first time, a protector may stop you to scrutinize what it is you're earning in. If they believe you're earning a lot of things, you're denied entrance. Be smart! Setting Up Shop.

Staying Place

Though there's a particular section for the mo'takif, the Masjid becomes stuffed all of the ways into the brim. We remained in a place that has been somewhat near the baths. This was our opinion. The automated domes will open up during the night time for the flow of air. It had been pure bliss appearing in the skies sending beneath the moon.

Though there were three people, we had difficulty holding down our stains. Due to the sheer number of people you are always picking up your items, packing up them for prayer, then taking out them then.

We're ever-changing and moving, and you need to be attentive and fast; otherwise, you might wind up becoming too comfy alongside somebody from Peshawar.
